THE MINDS of 99 x PARKEN – THE PHOTOTEAM STORY

Photos from left to right: Morten Rygaard, Flemming Bo Jensen, Malthe Ivarsson

This is the one. I loved showing you my view of The Minds of 99 at Parken and thank you so much everyone for all your comments and feedback, I really appreciate it. But this is the big one, the phototeam’s combined photo story!

Oh and again, do us a huge favour and grab a laptop or tablet, anything with a bigger screen. This is a bigger than life widescreen show and pictures and deserves a bigger screen than your phone. Thank you.

It was my honour and pleasure to captain this team featuring two of the best concert photographers in Denmark that I have known for years and am happy to also call my friends: Malthe Ivarsson and Morten Rygaard. I basically split the concert into 3 areas, and let us work where we do our best work: I was on stage and close to the band, Malthe in the pit and front of house getting lots of crowd action, and Morten in the upper tribune making those grand amazing overviews of all of Parken and all of you! More about the phototeam and the way we worked (and a photo os us!) after our photo essay – but first I want you to enjoy our work so I present to you:

The Minds of 99 x Parken – by Flemming Bo Jensen, Malthe Ivarsson and Morten Rygaard

I curated this essay, selecting my favourites from Malthe’s and Morten’s work and then adding some of my own and culling it all down to this essay. That was not an easy job, this essay could easily be 250 pictures! This is very close to perfect chronological order, so you get to scroll down and experience the concert as it happened, only a few crowd shots are slightly out of order as I felt it improved the storytelling in the essay. Here we go. 1…2…3…4

How we did it?

I made a plan! and spreadsheets! I tell you, having been an IT-manager for many years in my previous career, spreadsheets are the best thing ever and your employees will agree 🙂 Essentially my plan had the whole setlist and the major things that happened during songs and then photography notes for all three of us, where to be, what to photograph, what’s coming up next as sometimes you had to spend one song ‘in transport’ to other parts of the stadium. The Grand Plan!

We moved around during the show, following the plan, to make sure all the major ‘events’ in the show was covered from all angles, as hopefully our photo essay shows. A few of the things in the plan was challenged by just how long time it took to move through all of you wonderful 50.000 fans 🙂 But overall it worked and thank you Morten and Malthe for tolerating my love of spreadsheets and being incredible photographers and executing The Plan! And especially working very hard to get up into the tribunes when some of the security invented their own rules.

Here is an example of how we covered all the action during ‘Drømmer for Livet’ and the beginning of ‘Hurtige Hænder’. This is all within just a few minutes:

Malthe in the pit for Louis’ drum solo, simultaneously Flemming is following Niels to the C stage, Morten is already in place on the upper tribune

I will end with a little look at us at Parken in the picture below. Malthe and Morten have just arrived and are laughing in disbelief over how huge and awesome it all is, while I try and nail the ‘I got a lot on my mind boss-look’ 🙂

Thank you so much from the whole team, we hope you enjoyed our photo essay.
