Photography blogs are an incredibly exciting way of keeping up to date with news and the works of other artists. Always hungry for new inputs I can hardly get enough feeds. Once you follow more than a few blogs you need a RSS feed reader. I have been using Google Reader for years to follow feeds on photography, travel news, tech, personal blogs etc.
Google Reader allows you to share items and bundles of blogs that you follow. Click to view my Google Reader shared page. Right now there is just my Photography bundle, this is a bundle 53 of the photography blogs I follow. You can preview or add the bundle to your Google Reader if you like. It is a bundle of great photographers, news and review sites and some truly brilliant and inspirational news photo blogs like The Big Picture from The Boston Globe.
I am always looking for quality photography and travel blogs so feel free to post your links! I especially would love more African photography blogs to follow. Enjoy the great world of feed reading, beware as it is addictive!
WSJ Photo Journal. Very much like the Big Picture: http://blogs.wsj.com/photojournal/
And one of my When I Grow Up favourites, the National Geographic Assignment blog. Pictures, and the stories behind them. I just wish they would post more often: http://nationalgeographicassignmentblog.com/
Thanks Charlene, I read both of those blogs as well, they are great. Would be nice as you say if those NG photogs on assignment would post a bit more!
wowsers that's a lot of blogs!! no wonder you can't keep up when you're away traveling. 😛
it is great fun- and i agree with you on the addictive part. lately i'm happy with just reading and viewing everyone's posts- more so then doing one myself. I probably should get off my butt and do one soon though before i'm completely forgotten lol.
I love new inputs, I love reading, seeing other peoples photos etc. so I am big time addicted to Google Reader and my many feeds! However, once I takeoff and I am not online all the time every day I can't keep up 😀
I have cut down a bit on posting (or at least the length of my posts) as it was consuming so much time. Want it to be fun, not feel like work, so now I blog a story very quickly when inspiration strikes me.
it's certainly an efficient way to keep track of the blogging scene – the bundle idea is superb, always good to find some new things to read on my lunch break, thanks for sharing
You're welcome Cain, thanks for the comment!
Great list you have. I’m in the process of setting up a photography blog myself. Is there any chance you could add my blog to your list?
My site can be found here: http://www.howitookit.com
We have about 40 unpublished articles ready to be rolled out, so I can assure you this blog won’t be dead by next week 🙂
Thanks for your blog. It is very useful. Photos are great.
