The days in Singapore can be rather extreme. Sitting one degree off the equator, either the sun is melting you or tropical storms threaten to drown you. Either way it is always hot and humid, you are always sweating. Someday Singapore will announce they have figured out how to build an airconditioned dome over the entire island and I won’t blame them. It can be incredibly hot and humid making you not want to move anywhere. The nights are different. The nights are for walking.
Everyone welcomes the night. It is still warm and humid at night but at least we are safe from the sun. The atmosphere of the city changes as people hang out at void decks, eat and drink at hawker centres, exercise at the exercise areas and enjoy the spectacular and surreal Singapore at night.
Where else in the world do you find a twice-nightly massive laser show at the out-of-this-world Marina Bay for free! Complete with soap bubbles. Yes I don’t know why soap bubbles are there either, but it looks awesome. That’s Singapore for you. Spare no expense. Get soap bubbles! Get many! Get about a million of them, let them float in the air during the laser show like pixie fairies. Oh and throw in a live orchestra, smoke machines, 3D laser projections onto water fountains. Truly, it is unreal. And surreal. Like building the insane Marina Bay area in 3 years. Would take 20 years everywhere else, took 3 years here. It is incredibly impressive, it truly is.
