I have blogged about my friends from Copia Doble Systema many times in the past two and a half years, but Sonar Copenhagen was my first chance to catch their latest band ALO WALA live. ALO WALA plays self-described interplanetary bass, and will make you want to dance till the hips (and subwoofers) give out! ALO WALA is a new band, but quite experienced in tearing the roof off at all their live performances. The room was packed to capacity with a crowd that definitely loved their local heroes and vibrated to the beats.
I had to vibrate slightly less as I was covering the event for Red Bull Music Academy, so I ran around the room on stage, off stage, front of stage, back of the room for 45 minutes and snapped away while grinning like a madman, enjoying the performances of my friends. It is a wonderful but also peculiar way to experience a concert, two cameras in hand, but I love it. I am not sure I quite did the performance justice, but got a few shots I really like.
I have photographed and followed ALO WALA since they basically formed in august 2013 when we all spent time in the Red Bull Studios Copenhagen, and I was quite impressed by how far they have come. I cannot wait to see them blow up worldwide over the next years, spreading the love of interplanetary bass, and I hope to be there to photograph many more ALO WALA events.
Listen to their Cityboy EP and the new Vibrate to Win EP, and if they play anywhere near you (they are touring all of Europe this summer, check out the dates) do not miss them! ALO WALA really needs to be experienced live – Vibrate those hips to Win!
