“Could you do a project for us where you use the pre-release version of the 55-200mm lens at a concert and we use your pictures and film you and make a promotion movie out of it?” Such was the request from Fuji, back in May 2013. Luckily, I came fresh from a month long Mad and Magic movie shoot and was very trained in being stalked by a camera and posing like a diva!

The CLICK festival were nice and helpful and allowed us full acess to shoot and film, so the scene was set. I donned my Beyond movie star jacket, boots, jackets and sunnies and Claus the Videoguy from Fuji stalked me for a full evening. “You seem to have done this before” he replied observing my posing. “Yes, quite the movie star diva by now !”

I know, you are on the edge of your seats, no more talking, here is the final movie from Fuji:

Yes, yes I know. Really bad idea to record the voiceover “early” in the morning, not quite awake yet. Sounds like I have inhaled a fair bit of vegetable matter. My diva posing is perfect though even if a few of the most over the top diva scenes ended up on the cutting room floor – darn!

Additional Click Festival images

I strugled a bit with the lens at times, the festival was in a pitch black room with only the projections on screen as a light source and the minimum aperture of 3.5 was not as fast as I would like. Neither was the temperamental focus of the pre-release version. And I had access to stand right next to the artist, but constantly had to back away to use this big zoom instead of my preferred fast 18mm and 35mm prime lenses. I know, grumpypants. Also, I am a big diva. Gotta complain, it’s what us stars do. I will be in my trailer.

Thanks to everyone at Fuji Denmark and Claus the Video guy and the Click festival and the artists – It was FUN!

Nice pictures, gnavpot, even if the lens was too slow, you couldn’t get close enough to the stage….sorry, artists, and they cut out the real diva footage, etc. Sounds like they provided you with several pairs of gnavbukser in the trailer though? 😉

Can’t complain about the neverending supply of gnavbukser 😉 Diva Gnavpot can complain about everything else though! 😀

Michael, learning Dansk er meget sjov. I’ve learnt incredibly useful everyday phrases like “røven i vand skorpen”, “arbejder røven ud af bukserne” and “skide mange tømmermænd.” Speaking it is still a bit røvtur though… it took me two weeks just to learn how to say “røv”!

Getting famouser and famouser! What are we going to do with your Diva self?!? 🙂
Hope you are well, Flemming. Looks like the adventure just continues and continues. Good fun!

Thanks amigo! Fortunately my diva head is never allowed to get too big, I have someone special who is always right and good at deflating diva’s big ego 🙂

Awesome stuff! Hope they give you a 55-200 to keep! You’re an awesome photographer Flemming! Hope you 2014 is a magic year for you.

Thanks very much James. I am an official Fuji X-photographer (which is why they made the movie about me) and get to borrow all the gear I want. I have no use for the 55-200mm but FUJI have lent me all other kinds of cameras and lenses for which I am very grateful.

Gotta love the X series and Fuji’s attitude to its client base. Heard rumours they were looking for a Brad Pitt/Matt Damon type to promote their products…the rumours died out after you got on board though. Coincidence? Whatever….anyway Angelina called and asked if I could forward your web address to her which I did. I hope you don’t mind 😉
