I am in the XF16mm F1.4 lens promo film!

I am so incredibly stoked to have been asked to be featured in this Fujifilm promo movie for the XF16mm F1.4 lens! Why? Because this lens is my absolute favourite, it never leaves one of my cameras, and ever since it came out in March 2015 I have used it for 50% of all my pictures! I really feel that this is “my” lens so I am so happy to be featured in this promo movie for the lens – alongside fellow Fujifilm ambassadors Gerald Geronimi and Simone Raso. View the movie above, and then read on.

March 2015 and the XF16mm F1.4 prototype

Wayyyy back in March 2015 I was asked to be part of the testing and promo programme for the XF16mm F1.4 lens and I was super thrilled about it. I published Fujinon XF16mm F1.4 lens – the wide angle wonder on 16 April 2015 when the lens was released. It was however back in the day when you had to deliver in-camera jpegs for these projects, and that is really difficult in concert lighting so all my best pictures with the lens was yet to come. In early 2018 I had used the lens for a massive amount of concerts and published My Favourite Glass – The Fujinon 16mm F1.4 – a huge blog post, my ode to the amazing XF16mm F1.4 and the pictures I have made with it.

September 2020 and promo movie

XF16mm F1.4 on my X-T3 – September 2020

I am still using the same prototype XF16mm F1.4 lens from March 2015! It has been around the world many times, and I have used it for 3-400 concerts by now, not a single problem. This thing is built to last! Mine has quite a few scratches as you can see here, but that is just the awesome wear that comes from really using a lens for work for 5 years!

I really like that Fujifilm has started doing promo movies for the ‘older’ lenses as well. Some people are baffled by this, but it makes perfect sense to me. These lenses might be a few years old but they are still amazing lenses, and you get the benefit of featuring photographers who has used the lenses for years of work! My magic better half Charlene Winfred was featured and got the last word in the movie about the XF35mm F1.4 lens, a lens that is truly “hers”, no one else in the world has made the work she has with that lens, making it her own. “My” signature lens is the XF16mm F1.4 So when Fujifilm asked if I wanted to feature in the 16mm promo movie I was so over the top thrilled about this! I recorded my interview and pulled together some B-roll footage – thank you to my friends Kasper Stub and Klaus Bo for the B-roll, which we filmed back in 2019 and suddenly came in handy. Fujifilm edited the movie and I am very happy about the result.
